Dewitt Clinton of 1831 -

On Sunday August 21,1921, this train was exhibited in Delaware, Ohio. It was touring The Big Four Route carrying many historical railroad items, highlighted by a replica of the DeWitt Clinton, which hauled its first passengers on August 9, 1831 on the newly built Mohawk & Hudson Railroad. The train also included engine "999" which was famous for setting a speed record of 112.5 mph while hauling the "Empire State Express" on May 10, 1893.

This is a replica of the original Dewitt Clinton (The fourth steam engine built in the United States) The original entered service in 1831. It was scrapped in 1833. This replica engine was built for the 1893 Columbian Exhibition in Chicago. On Sunday, August 21,1921, this train was exhibited in Delaware, Ohio. It was purchased by Henry Ford in 1934 and is kept on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
